Family: Sylvia is the youngest of two children. Her father Gerald died when she was young, leaving her mother Deirdre to take care of the family.

Sylvia is the youngest child of a merchant family. Her earliest memories are sitting in a corner of her daddy's shop and watching him work. As soon as she was old enough, she begged her parents to let her help out, but for years all they let her do was sweep the floors and dust the shelves.

When Sylvia was nine years old, her father suddenly died of illness, leaving her mother and her older brother Byron in charge of the shop. Bryan was only thirteen, and their mother wasn't half the salesperson her husband had been

Luckily for them, Sylvia had learned a lot from watching her father, so she stepped up. She seemed like a natural, but people would more often than not go to Byron and her mother for assistance. Sylvia didn't make her first real sale until she was twelve, and it was the happiest day of her life when she finally did.

The first one, anyway. Seven years later, the testers from Everthorne Academy paid the family a visit; they'd been there after Byron's nineteenth birthday and he'd failed the test, so Sylvia didn't expect good results either.

Imagine her surprise when she passed the tests and was accepted to the Academy. Sylvia resisted at first; this was her home and she'd made a name for herself in selling! But Byron was able to convince her it was a good idea, so off she went.

Sylvia is pretty casual in everything she does; she's a hard worker but never puts any emphasis on being amazing or worrying if she's awful. She just does what needs to be done, and if she happens to be good at it, good for her.

That's not to say she's unenthusiastic, of course. She loves the life of a merchant, and considers it a great victory when she makes a sale.

She doesn't get along well with just anyone. Rich people chafe her (unless they're customers, of course), and if someone makes her angry, she's almost too happy to pick a fight with them. She's intensely stubborn and likes to get her way.

Since arriving at Everthorne, Sylvia has developed a complex over becoming her own woman and having a life outside her home and family; she loves them deeply, but loathes the idea of feeling homesick and is hesitant to talk about her family beyond their names and professions. She misses her father, but doesn't like to think about how much she misses him and hates when people go "oh, how sad!" over the fact that he's dead.

She can't dance to save her life, but has a very nice singing voice. She hates citrus fruit and is deathly afraid of bugs, but for some odd reason she really likes snakes.

Sylvia is petite, with short brown hair and sparkling brown eyes. She dresses casually and has a very expressive face. She's also quite well-endowed, a fact she's more than a little embarrassed about.
